For more than 20 years, my life has been connected to the cosmetics industry. Along the way, I have explored ingredients, developed formulas and never stopped learning. Alongside my professional journey, there has always been a personal one: self-discovery, spiritual growth and a desire to understand what helps us feel at home within ourselves. Moments of reflection help me listen to myself and remember that we, too, are part of nature. Over time, this understanding became the foundation of UPE.

Linden blossom and sea buckthorn hold a special place in the UPE story:

• The scent of linden blossom runs through almost all our products, bringing a touch of Latvian summer and the warmth and tranquillity of a linden tree in bloom to everyday life. In Latvian folklore and spiritual literature, the linden tree symbolises femininity, feminine strength, wisdom, gentleness and harmony. In UPE’s story, it also reminds us of the strength rooted in our ability to blossom. Yet its value goes beyond fragrance. Linden blossom contains mucilage, a source of polysaccharides that help maintain skin’s moisture and softness, alongside flavonoids with antioxidant properties that help neutralise free radicals and reduce oxidative stress.

• Sea buckthorn oil combines valuable fatty acids with naturally occurring antioxidants, including carotenoids, that help protect lipids from oxidation. It is a valued ingredient for nourishing dry and mature skin, helping restore protective barriers and a feeling of softness and comfort.

It matters to me to appreciate the plants growing around us and find a meaningful place for them in modern skincare. This is how we can create our own skincare story, rooted in Latvia.

The name UPE  (Latvian for “river”) reflects our approach to beauty and life: to keep flowing, live in harmony with nature and stay connected to who we are. We want to encourage you to trust yourself and choose care that feels right for your life.
